I've been using QuickBooks since it was DOS back in 1992. During my undergraduate studies in Accounting, my first client was my father, a Podiatrist. He would put all his bills in a box, and at the end of the year, he would hand that box to his CPA. I built his QuickBooks file and helped modernize his accounting practices, allowing him to gain better control over his business.
Throughout my undergraduate and graduate years, I worked full-time in various retail management positions, gaining experience with many different POS systems and accounting systems, which laid the foundation for my future in QuickBooks consulting.
After completing my Master's Degree in Management Information Systems, I began providing IT consulting services for one of my retail clients, helping them enhance their technology infrastructure. In 2003, I became one of the first Microsoft Partners in the country certified in Microsoft Small Business Server as a Small Business Specialist. My focus was on installing and setting up Microsoft Small Business Server and performing swing migrations from old hardware to new. Almost every small business customer I encountered needed assistance with their QuickBooks, along with the necessary infrastructure management, prompting me to become a QuickBooks ProAdvisor, a role I have cherished for over 20 years.
As early as 2005, I became a founding member of the Intuit Solution Provider Program, now known as the QuickBooks Solution Provider Program (QSP). I was a leading consultant in both the QuickBooks Enterprise Solution Provider and Retail POS Solution Provider Programs. Intuit recognized my contributions with numerous sales awards across QuickBooks Desktop, Point of Sale, Intuit Payment Processing, and Intuit Payroll. I have worked with every product or service related to QuickBooks and have become a specialist in various inventory management solutions that integrate seamlessly with QuickBooks.
Fast forward to 2010, alongside general small business consulting, I provided a significant amount of services in the Franchise industry, particularly surrounding QuickBooks and its infrastructure. I built my first QuickBooks Desktop hosting company utilizing Microsoft Remote Desktop, which set me on the path of Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), eventually evolving into Managed Azure Hosting, where I remain today.
In 2016, Intuit made a major change to how their Payment Processing integrated with QuickBooks Desktop, while QuickBooks Online was still emerging with limited features. We had several customers inquiring about alternatives to address the challenges of QuickBooks' invoice and accounts receivable automation. This need led to the creation of RECUR360, which successfully grew into one of the premier apps for integrating with both QuickBooks Desktop and Online for invoice and payment automation.
In 2020, I spun RECUR360 into its own legal entity, transitioning it from an app into a startup. Between 2020 and 2022, as remote work surged during the COVID years, R360 QuickBooks Desktop Hosting and RECUR360 experienced exponential growth, earning us recognition by Inc. 5000 as #1776 on their list of the Fastest Growing Privately Held Companies.
By 2023, RECUR360 was acquired by a venture capital-backed payment processor. This experience taught me invaluable lessons in technology entrepreneurship, particularly in how to create, grow, scale, and market a business for acquisition.
Today, I provide consulting services that draw upon my extensive experience to guide business owners and startups in achieving their goals.
